The Justice Department’s 2008 prosecution of Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska was rife with prosecutorial abuses, many of which paralleled those by the Watergate Special Prosecution Force – except that an FBI whistleblower stepped forward and the abuses came to light in time. While the Senator could never get his job restored, he did live to see his conviction vacated and some of his tormentors exposed.
